Yamaha Motor Europe, is excited to unveil the latest version of its pioneering HARMO electric outboard, now featuring a series of upgrades designed to deliver a more versatile, more intuitive boating experience.
The revolutionary integrated electric propulsion and steering control system, now offers enhanced capabilities and refined control features that build on the groundbreaking design of its predecessor.
This new version retains all the hallmark benefits of HARMO's first iteration - quiet, eco-friendly performance, intuitive handling, and Yamaha's signature reliability - while pushing the boundaries of electric propulsion technology even further.
Building on the acclaimed design of the original HARMO, this next-generation model combines an exciting new design, more configuration options and a choice of control packages to redefine what's possible in electric propulsion for the marine industry.
Fabrice Lacoume, Marine Director at Yamaha Motor Europe says "We're really excited to bring HARMO 2.0 to Europe. It includes all the innovative engineering that made HARMO 1.0 such a breakthrough, and now offers incredible versatility with so many different possible boating applications, engine configurations, and control options.
At Yamaha, we believe that electric engines will be a key part of achieving carbon neutrality in the marine industry, alongside alternative sustainable fuels and hydrogen power. With this in mind, the whole team is very proud to launch this new model which will see electric engines installed on a far wider range of watercraft than ever before."
Ideal for tranquil journeys through serene landscapes, whether navigating the lakes of Italy or exploring the Scandinavian archipelago, HARMO allows users to experience nature's beauty in undisturbed quiet.
In Total Control
The new HARMO 2.0 incorporates a refined design and an expanded control interface, now available in a joystick-only configuration for single and twin applications. Ideal for both novice and seasoned boaters, the joystick-only control makes HARMO even easier to operate, offering intuitive control in tight spaces and challenging environments.
An advantage of HARMO 2.0 is full integration with Yamaha's HelmMaster EX. With this feature, HARMO owners gain access to advanced functionalities like Autopilot and SetPoint. Autopilot assists with easier navigation, while SetPoint enables precise positioning, ideally suited to moments of stillness whilst angling. Together, these features bring unparalleled ease and control to the boating experience, allowing users to relax and enjoy their time on the water.
The Strong & Silent Type
HARMO's powerful rim-drive motor and Digital Electric Steering (DES) deliver rapid responsiveness for precise manoeuvring around docks, quiet idling in sensitive environments, and seamless handling. The engine's design also ensures a remarkably quiet operation, allowing boaters to fully immerse themselves in the sounds of nature or stalk twitchy whoppers when angling.
Your Convenience Is Our Priority
Yamaha's newest HARMO Electric Outboard represents a significant step forward in electric propulsion, marrying Yamaha's decades of marine engineering expertise with the latest in sustainable, user-friendly technology. This release reinforces Yamaha's commitment to innovation in the rapidly evolving marine electric propulsion market, delivering a product that combines performance, convenience, and environmental responsibility.
Yamaha's Commitment to Carbon Neutrality
At Yamaha, we recognise that achieving carbon neutrality in the marine industry requires a multi-faceted approach. Sustainable marine fuels play a crucial role, enabling cleaner operation while remaining compatible with existing engines. We've showcased the potential of these fuels at major industry events and are committed to expanding their accessibility across the sector.
Electric power is another vital component in the journey towards decarbonisation. Perfect for a wide variety of boats and eco-sensitive areas, our innovations with electric systems, such as HARMO, and our partnerships are addressing diverse marine needs while reducing emissions.
Looking towards the future, hydrogen shows immense promise as an alternative fuel. Yamaha is actively exploring opportunities in hydrogen-powered outboards and collaborating with industry leaders to develop the necessary infrastructure to make hydrogen a viable, sustainable option for marine propulsion.
Yamaha Motor is charting a course for a carbon-neutral future on the water by investing in multiple technology Solutions. By developing electric power options, sustainable marine fuels, and exploring hydrogen alternatives, we're taking concrete steps to decarbonise the marine industry and ensure a cleaner, more sustainable environment for generations to come.
