Wescom Group’s new sMRT ALERT Man Overboard Now Available
Not much larger than a mobile phone, the new sMRT ALERT AIS DSC Man Overboard device is one of the first in a range of new beacons which meets the enhanced Class M standard. This means that as well as providing a fast location position, the sMRT ALERT also indicates to the wearer that their distress signal has been picked up – providing reassurance that help is on its way.
The sMRT ALERT’s innovative features have already made it an award-winning product, with its user-focused safety features being recognised by the DAME Awards. This compact, fully-waterproof device includes two-way signalling, real-time location tracking via AIS (Automatic Identification System) and uses DSC (Digital Selective Calling) to alert nearby vessels to the call for help.
With a range of user-friendly fastenings which enable the sMRT ALERT to be clipped onto a lifejacket or clothing, the sMRT ALERT also includes a beacon management app to connect the beacon to a smart phone, enabling users to check on activation status and the power reserves in the five-year battery.
Manufactured in the UK at Wescom Group’s newly-opened manufacturing facility in Hull,
the sMRT ALERT is one of the first products on the market designed to meet the new Class M – meaning those with GNSS and internal DSC receivers, will be compliant with the new regulations.
The sMRT ALERT costs from £270 RRP and is available through Wescom Group’s network of international retailers and distributors.
